Viewpoint Opportunities!

First of all, Viewpoint is one of the best photo galleries in California, and we are very lucky to have it here in Sacramento.  Even better, there’s an entire program for students.  We do have an ARC membership for students, but even if you aren’t taking our classes anymore, you could still become a member for $20 and that gives you access beyond your time with us.  I’ve added their contact info at the bottom of this post. But let’s see what’s going on!

STUDENT EXHIBIT: Street Stories  —  CALL FOR ENTRIES

For this year’s student exhibit, Viewpoint offers a juried exhibit entitled “Street Stories.”  The exhibit will run from May 9 – June 3, 2017.  The Call for Entries opens on March 1, 2017 and closes at 5:00 pm on Saturday April 8, 2017. There are no entry fees and students may submit up to 3 images.  The Prospectus and Submittal Requirements are available on the Viewpoint website under Exhibits > Call for Entry. Cash awards will be offered for this exhibit: 1st Place: $150, 2nd Place: $100, 3rd Place: $75. Should you have any questions about the exhibit, please direct them to Diana Proctor via e-mail: dianap07@att.net

Thurs. April 20–D NEATH “MARKETING YOURSELF TO GALLERIES, MUSEUMS AND THE PUBLIC.

I couldn’t find any more information about this on their website, but you can certainly call their number and find out a specific time, since this looks like it could be REALLY handy information.

Art/Photo Exhibit: Quietude

Kendall Isotalo’s work, Quietude, examines the emotional space that can occur when a perceived threat of loss and transition coexists with feelings of gratitude and hope. She has found that in attempts to be fully present and aware, she is able to experience profound moments of stillness, quiet, and tranquility.

Volunteer Opportunity (good to get to know local photo people!)

Volunteers are need to help the Hanging Crew and others repaint the galleries before the April exhibits. Members with basic painting skills and armed with rollers and brushes would be very much appreciated. Free pizza and drinks for all who help out. Painting will take place on Saturday, April 1st (this is no joke!) and should be a bucket of fun.
